My Hopepreneur Origin Story: How Hope Hovered in Front of Me One Winter Night. Hi, my name is Bobbi Raffin, and I’m the woman behind The Hopepreneur.
Today, I help Christian women 40+ build faith-led online businesses using digital marketing, practical tools, and encouragement rooted in hope. But The Hopepreneur did not begin with a logo, a website, a funnel, or a polished business plan.
The Winter Night That Started The Hopepreneur
It began on a snowy winter night when I was a single Christian mom who had run out of answers.
Starting Over as a Single Christian Mom
At that time in my life, I was trying to hold everything together.
I had been laid off from my full-time job. Unemployment had run out. The bills were still coming. I only had $6 in my bank account. My children still needed me. Life did not pause just because my income had stopped.
I was doing what so many women do.
- I was trying to stay strong.
- Trying to pray.
- Trying to think clearly.
- I tried to make a plan when my heart felt heavy and my mind was exhausted.
On the outside, I wanted to look like I had faith. Yet, on the inside, I was scared to death.
I wanted to provide for my children.
I wanted to rebuild my income.
I wanted to believe there was still a path forward.
I wanted God to show me what to do next because I knew I could not carry that season in my own strength.
That desire is something many Christian women understand deeply. We want to be wise. We want to be responsible. And we want to honor God with our lives, our work, our money, and our families. Yet sometimes the pressure becomes so loud that even faith feels tired and completely worn out.
A Desperate Prayer in the Snow
That winter night, the weight became too much to hold in me any longer.
I didn’t want my little kiddos to see or hear me break down, and they were enthralled by a T.V. show.
So I ran outside.
There was snow. The ground was covered. The air was cold.
I grabbed my robe but didn’t put on any shoes or slippers. Yet, I didn’t feel the icy coldness on my feet.
I cried out to God with everything I had left.
“Lord, I need help right now. I can’t do this on my own. If we are going to make it through all of this, You have to help us.”
When Faith Feels Tired
It was the kind of prayer that comes from a mother’s heart when she’s reached the edge of what she can manage alone. I was completely desperate for Jesus’s help.
At that moment, I wasn’t only worried about not having any money.
I was worried about my children.
Worried about our future.
I was worried about whether I could find a way to build something stable again.
Worried about becoming buried under that fear.
I needed more than a financial answer. I needed hope, something to hold onto like an anchor.
The Hummingbird That Became My Sign of Hope
Then something happened that I’ll never forget.
A beautiful and bright hummingbird appeared right in front of me.
It hovered there…for minutes.
Straight ahead. I couldn’t look away. This was no ordinary moment.

In the middle of my fear, in the cold, in the snow, after one of the most gut-wrenching cries to God that I had ever made, that tiny hummingbird hovered in front of me with a message from heaven.
And I heard God as clear as day say,
“I will never leave you nor forsake you or your children. This is your sign of Hope from your Lord God Almighty.”
That moment changed me.
I had felt so alone.
I had felt completely overwhelmed.
It felt like the road ahead was uncertain and impossible.
But God met me there. He met me exactly where I was.
He did not hand me a full business plan that night. He gave me a sign of hope. He reminded me that He was still present. He reminded me that my children and I were not forgotten.
That hummingbird became more than a beautiful creature.
It became a marker.
A reminder.
A promise.
How God Gave Me Hope for the Next Step
Before that moment, I thought I needed to figure everything out before I could move forward.
After that moment, I began to understand that God often gives us enough light for the next step.
I didn’t need to see the entire road. Even though that’s still the hard part for me.
I needed to trust the One walking with me.
That belief has shaped the way I build, teach, coach, and encourage other women today.
Because success does not always come in a straight line.
Sometimes the path has curves.
There are turns you don’t expect.
The detour becomes part of the testimony.
The season you would never have chosen becomes the place where your faith grows deeper, and your purpose becomes clearer.
How My Faith-Led Online Business Journey Began
From that night forward, God began showing me ways to create and build businesses.
I learned. And I failed.
After getting back up, I tried again.
I made mistakes, but I kept going.
Two weeks later, I was hired by Stu McLaren of WishList Products as a writer and tech support for the WishList Member plugin. I was hired out of hundreds who applied.
God Qualified the Unqualified
Was I qualified?
NO!
I had absolutely no experience with WishList Member and little with WordPress at the time.
God made a path where there was none.
I discovered the power of online business, digital marketing, tools, systems, and coaching. I saw that women could create income in a way that allowed them to use their voice, their gifts, their faith, and their life experience.
God qualified the unqualified.
I soon saw how overwhelming the online business world can feel.
My Early Experience Building an Online Business
I started in the online world in 1999.
I taught myself HTML, and I built a website in Frontpage. I also created a shopping cart and a payment gateway.
Things were not at all as easy and simplified as they are today. It was tough back then.
I sold leather bags, jackets, boots, and novelty items such as Coca-Cola and M&M items. I loved it, but I didn’t have the knowledge of leveling up. So, after four years of running my online business, I closed my site and store due to burnout.
Why I Believe Christian Women Should Build From the Heart
Many women are still told to chase trends, copy formulas, and build like everyone else.
That never felt right to me.
I believe your business should come from your heart, from your passion.
Your story matters.
Your faith matters.
Life experiences matter.
Your desire for financial freedom matters.
The need for simplicity matters.
Your Age Does Not Disqualify You
And… your age does not disqualify you. It brings wisdom to the table.
What It Means to Be a Hopepreneur
That is why I became The Hopepreneur.
A Hopepreneur is a woman who builds with faith, hope, purpose, and practical action.
You may be starting over.
Maybe you’re entering a new season.
You may be tired of depending on just one source of income. What if it runs out, like mine did?
Maybe you want to build something online but feel overwhelmed by technology, sales, marketing, funnels, email, content, and all the moving pieces.
You may even be wondering if it is too late for you.
I want you to know this….
It is not too late to learn.
Not too late to create.
It is not too late to build.
And it’s not too late to let God use your story.
Why There Is a Hummingbird in The Hopepreneur Logo
That is also why there is a hummingbird in my logo.
The hummingbird is so very personal to me.
It represents the night hope hovered right in front of me.
It represents God’s faithfulness.
It represents movement, courage, and the ability to keep going even when the road feels uncertain.
Every time I see that hummingbird, I remember the woman I was that night.
Cold.
Scared.
Honest before God.
And I remember what He gave me.
Hope.
That is the heartbeat of The Hopepreneur.
And you know what? I had never seen a hummingbird in person before. At the time, I was around 42 or 43. I had always wanted to see one. The Lord purposefully held them back from my site until it served His purpose.
After that fateful night, I see them every single time I need hope in a situation.

Today, I help Christian women 40+ grow financial freedom through faith-led digital marketing, online business tools, and coaching.
My focus is to help women create, connect, and convert with purpose… AND in a very simplified way.

That’s why I created my lead magnet, The 3 C’s Method: Create, Connect, Convert with Faith-Led Principles.
Because online business does not have to feel cold, confusing, or disconnected from your values.
You can create from your heart.
You can connect with people in a real and meaningful way.
You can convert through trust, service, and clarity.
Simple Online Business Tools for Women Who Want More Freedom
I also share tools that help women simplify the online business journey, including a funnel builder and premium resources like the Traffic Maestro, email tools, an automated inviter, an image creator, and the content helper.
My brand is not built around a company name.
Its brand is built around my calling.
The Hopepreneur exists to help women see that digital marketing can become a pathway to income, confidence, freedom, and purpose when it’s guided by faith and built with intention.
Is It Too Late to Start an Online Business After 40?
Maybe you are a Christian woman in your 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond, and you feel a stirring for something more.
Maybe you want to create extra income.
You want to build an online business but have no idea where to begin.
Or just maybe you’re tired of feeling behind or not good enough at marketing your product.
Your Story Still Matters
Maybe you have a story in your heart, but you’re not sure how it fits into business.
Or your path has already had more curves than you expected, and you are completely overwhelmed.
I understand. I’ve lived that fear of uncertainty. I’ve prayed those desperate prayers.
I’ve wondered how the provision would come. And I’ve seen God open doors one step at a time.
Your Path to Success May Have Curves
Your path to success may not look like a straight road.
It may have bends, curves, and even potholes. You may be required to have patience.
It may ask you to learn new skills and stretch your faith and confidence.
Your hero story needs to come from your heart because the hero in your story is YOU!
You don’t have to become someone else to build a business online.
You can bring your values, your wisdom, your personality, your faith, your voice, and your lived experience with you.
That’s where real connection begins. It’s where trust grows. And it’s where your message becomes more than content.
It becomes a service and purpose wrapped into practical action that helps other people.
I used to think I needed a way out. Now I see that God was building a way through.
That winter night did not erase every challenge ahead of me. Not by a long shot.
Although it did give me the courage to keep walking, and that’s what I want The Hopepreneur to offer other women. The hopepreneurs of this world.
Not hype. No pressure. Not noise.
A faith-led path forward into your purpose while you pass it forward, helping other women with their purpose.
The hummingbird in my logo is there because I never want to forget where this began.
One winter night. One honest prayer. One sign of hope.
One reminder that God had not left me or my children.
That is how The Hopepreneur was born. We are here for legacy.
And if you are standing at the beginning of your own new season, wondering whether you still have time to build something meaningful, I want you to hold onto this.
Your story still matters.
Your gifts still matter.
Your faith still matters.
Your path may have curves, but God can still use every turn.
